The topics I found searching were from 2006.... so I thought I'd start a new one.

When I bought my machine I also purchased a naked portafiller which came with a basket.  The QM baskets seem much better so it got me to thinking about what else may be out there and pondering if it would make a difference in the taste.

What is everyone using for baskets?  Thoughts suggestions?

Stock Quickmill Double basket, IMO, is nice.  Its a Faema 14gram.  The basket which you should be most comfortable using.

But, before precision baskets came into the mix, to me, baskets were like.. well idk what they were like, but I bought oodles of them.  Still do, except now there are baskets which cost $30 a piece.  Anyway, here is a list of non-precision, cheap baskets I think any 58mm machine owner should have....

-Faema 12gram...  If you like to use lower doses, like 14-15grams, this slightly smaller basket makes it a little easier.
-La Marzocco Single Basket- The Only single basket worth using
-La Marzocco Standard Double- A Classic.  Be warned, most require a 57mm tamper.
-La Marzocco Triple Basket- This is a mondo basket, the biggest of the big.
-Synesso Ridgeless 14 gram.-Before precision baskets, this was THE basket to have.  It still is, IMO.  Can also be found under the name, "La Marzocco Style Ridgless Double", at lots of vendors, and Ebay.
-Synesso ridgeless 18 gram. -Gotta go to Synesso to get this, EPNW stopped carrying it(BOO!)

I also think that the HQ baskets from EPNW are worth buying.  Ive been using the ridged double, and ridgeless triple, the most in the past week or three, so Id buy those at least.  Might as well get all four though, no?

Idk about VST baskets yet.  Ive yet to give them a solid chance at working well, and I only have one, a ridged 18gram.  I will buy more sizes and ridgeless ones, and I will give them a solid testing with my best attitude, so for now, IDK.  However, I haven't heard anything bad about them.  Most of the comments are along the lines of "Wow, ill never go back to regular baskets again".   You decide.
