Brazil Cup of Excellence Laranja Cravo
you drink espresso it's a great single origin shot single origin is easier to roast well than a pre-roast blend it also works well as a primary accent in a balanced espresso blend

Hi Dom... I love the Moka Kadir myself (now blend my own and post roast mix it sometimes with Uganda Bugisu 50/50).
For drip or French Press, we like: Timor PNG Kenya AA Panama Boquette Java mixed 50/50 after roasting with Harrar or Yemen (a true Mohka Java)
For espresso blending I stock Yemen Horse Sidamo Giambi Aged Sulawesi Brazilian Sweet Maria's Classic Italian, Monkey, Donkey (decaf), Liquid Amber
What I've noticed is after doing this for a few years, I pretty much have the list down of which coffee fits our tastes, and order less and less 'unknown' beans. Occasionally I'll be intrigued by the write up and try one. If it's good, we order it again, and if not, I roast and give it away for gifts and never order it again.
What took time was tasting what I liked and matching it to the 'descriptions' or 'chatter' on the board. Then I was able to zero in on other coffees like them. I also discovered, I don't like certain coffees unblended - or stand alone - for drip, yet they are great in espresso blends.
Happy Birthday...if I could only order one bag it would be Monkey or Moka Kadir. L a r r Y
I love the Liquid Amber (mixed with Brazilian Prima or Guatemalan or Bolivian for a slight mellowing of the espresso shots). The Liquid Amber is great by itself too, especially for milk-based drinks.
Also, I have heard a lot about the Yemen Mokha Ismaili and I have been looking to find some of that to try out myself.
In the end - it almost doesn't matter what you start with does it? You already know the difference roasting at home makes.....

Go with a good single origin, preferably a wet processed coffee. You will be able to get more uniform results with this coffee, and it will be easier to gage your results.
I like the Guatemalan myself and given that the Fraijanes Palo Alto Azul seems to be good from City to Full City+, you'd have room for mistakes and still have drinkable results.

I am leaning toward Moka Kadir because I had such a good experience with it since I have bought Wega.... Monkey Blend I tend to enjoy, but Moka Kadir for some reason I loved.....
I was curious about single origins that work as straight shots and in milk....
Led I did look at Coffeebean Corral when Sweet Marias was temporarily out of stock...
but shipping is cheap b/c they are in the bay area so the deal benefits me better to buy from them... thanks for the heads up though...
I probably will order it Thursday night so please continue to throw in your input....
right now as it stands
Moka Kadir is my first choice Monkey Blend and Liquid Amber stand together in second place the rest is up in the air...
I tried a Brazil Cup of Excellence and I did pretty good with it if I can remember correctly... I am going to have to start a roasting log.... any suggestions on whether to make a spread sheet or get a journal...

Brazil Cup of Excellence Laranja Cravo
This is the best espresso base I have tried. You can use it by itself, or as any percentage of a blend. It has a slightly spicy aroma, and chocolate aftertaste. Also makes good milk drinks and Americanos. Extremely versatile and great tasting.
I just bought a 10 lbs bag of it myself. I wanted to buy about 50 lbs of it, but I am moving cross-country in a few weeks. Will buy it then.
Congrats on the Hot Top. I am going to buy a BBQ Drum after I move.

Keep a log... It doesn't matter where, but keep it simple and handy. A spiral notebook close to the roaster is more likely to get filled out than a computer data base.
