Today was the first time I ever encountered spam in these forums, like flat out spam.
I was wondering how hard it would be to attach a "flag this as spam," feature, in the forums to try and allow the users some control in keeping this at a minimum.

I mean, if the ads were for good deals on coffee related items it wouldn't be an issue for me, but this was for knockoff apparel, and thats just out of place and upsetting in these forums.

I love this site, it is the only place where I can discuss coffee at a technical level and  not get weird stares or comments, Id hate to see it turn into *yspace.

You've been very lucky then ;) Or maybe it goes to show how efficient the spam removal is on here.

A few years back, it wasn't unusual to have to deal with half a dozen or so spams per day. But now, for various reasons which I won't go into, it is much rarer - some days we actually get none at all on the boards.

BTW I've just posted this up about spam and what to do about it.

Cheers

Ian

The current release of the site is in a state of stasis as most of Mark's resources are going into the development of v.3 CoffeeGeek. We are pretty good at noticing and deleting spam, but if you see one we missed, email one of the moderators and we'll take care of it.

IS this the site where I can find why CG website is not stable?
For the past few days [eversince the web was down and recovered] I have few episodes where I have "failured for upload the content"  asking me to refresh.  But even refresing does not work.
Any suggestion
Thanks

"Website Downtime for December 14-15, December 17 Information" has updates.

Failing that, I have been posting updates to twitter - www.twitter.com/coffeegeek but twitter's been down for 2+ hours so far this evening!!!! (I guess it's good to see we're not the only one with problems).

On flags. It's an absolute certainly to be included in V3 of this site.

On where the hell is V3. Unfortunately, we hired a very, very bad design and development company that we've just recently successfully sued (collecting the small claims court win is another matter); because of the design situation, we were in a holding pattern for programming. Our programmer kept a huge block of time available from March-July, but we had nothing to give him. When I finally had the sneak preview part done and designed, programming was n longer available. I was hoping to get going again in November, but programming's current projects are dragging out.

We may be able to start up again in early January. Once programming is on board, the V3 sneak preview and new front page will only take 3-4 weeks to roll out.
