Mark,

It would be great if we could select the forums that we want to watch for new topics.  Then when we hit the "new posts" link, we'd see new posts only in the areas we're interested in.  Recently, "new posts" has been flooded with everything but coffee discussions.  I'd be perfectly happy not to include "General Off Topics" when I search for new posts.  Others may want to filter out some other forum.

I wonder if I could do this with an advanced search, then bookmark my query...but now I can't seem to even get the advanced search to work.

Mark,
I feel the same way.  I come to this forum to exchange information about coffee.  I also use the "new posts" link and I'd like to be able to exclude "General Off Topics" altogether.  I think it would be better to give users a way of excluding specific topics rather than giving them an "include" option.   It seems that this could easily be implemented with a cookie or via login options.

In some ways we're a captive audience here.   It's clear that many of us don't come here to discuss politics and besides some of these intense political discussions can cause hard feelings between people who would otherwise be "good buddies".
