In 2004 Zassenhaus moved their manufacturing to Romania and the Czech Republic, according to their website. Now they are kaput, according to everyone who knows about Zass.
I ordered the Lodos mill when I was out of luck finding a new Zassenhaus. Then I found a local source and bought a Zass 151, new old stock. I'll put photos on the buy/sell posting and describe what I think about the Lodos mill.

you guys will make me get into turkish mill business at last! After reading so much about it and zassenhaus and complaints about the ones produced in turkey, I started to think finding someone who already manufactures Tmills, design a new one and convince them produce something high quality with my design :)))) actually for me even low quality ones work but you guys look from the collector's perspective. Still wondering though.. to get into mill business or not to.. that's the question =P
PS. CraigA my friend, didn't I tell ya a while ago they're not produced in germany muhhahahahaahaaaa :evilzasssssmiley: *runs for her life* =P

Check out www.zassenhaus.com and look at their coffee mill S-11 Titelbild (I posted it here, too) that resembles a turkish mill, but would be perfect for hand-grinding right into the portafilter if one had a steady hand or built a stand that would make for easy loading, kind of like the Mazzer Mini E. Too bad that new Zass never made it out of the starting block, unless a Chinese maker is about to unleash a similar one.
I like the romance and idea of the hand-mill, and as long as my caffeine habit is small I'll continue this way. Or let the wife turn the crank! :)

I know this model and actually all zass models :) I believe this model (due to arm design) is a looser. Why? because the arm is not joint and you'll need more power.
Actually I love classical brass turkish mills. But what i have in mind is as following: higher quality inner parts, and stainless steel finish (carvings can be added on request) and your mentioning about hand grinding right into the portafilter gave me this idea: As you know classical Tmills have joint arms, and it is not connected to mill, you place the joint arm on top, then do the circular motion. Now imagine... throw that joint arm away, what you have? the mill itself. What we need is a little electric device (or it can work with battery) which has a hexagon spanner. Now attach it to the top of the mill and turn on the device. it will do the circular motion for you, hold it above the portafilter voila!
I believe a mini electrical device like that won't cost too much. But if you have a mini electric screwdriver tool that will work too!
