Hi all. This is my first post here. It's a great site and even better forum.

I'm interested in buying a plain ol' vanilla Rancilio Silvia but MAN are they expensive. I don't need any frills - no PID, no accompanying Rocky, nada - just what I'd get in the box, if I bought it through a dealer/store. A few years old? Eh... no matter - as long as it works well and hasn't been dropped off a rooftop.

If you've got one, drop me a line!

Thanks!

JC

I know this one is really rather a legend but I wonder why such a huge price increase.

Thanks for the welcome :-)

I heard/read because of the increased price of stainless steel, increased shipping/importing costs because of the the price of fuel,USD to the Euro.

Of course! {;-)

P.S. Don't forget to check the Buy & Sell posts here also. There's a Silvia for sale still, right now: "Re: WTB: Silvia with or without PID, Used or New, Philadelphia Area"

Hi  there,
Stainless steel has indeed gone through the roof due to all the appliances demand, but if it's all the same to you, I have a Ranchilio Nancy in absolutely mint condition, I picked it up at the auction sale along with the rebuilt Cremina 67.

JC--

I have a Silvia for sale.  Lightly used, well maintained (Backflushed regularly, Descaled).  The only upgrade is to a 52 watt Ulka pump.   It makes great espresso, I am upgrading to a HX machine, that is the only reason I am selling.

$485.  Plus actual shipping to you.

Thanks, and welcome to the wonderful world of espresso and coffee.

Hi Alan...

Do you have a picture or two of the machine?

Thanks for replying!

Thank you to all of those who offered up their Silvia. I do appreciate your time and consideration. I've been obsessing over this thing for long enough so I ordered one through 1stincoffee.com. Jim was very helpful and seems like a pretty cool guy.

Man I'm excited! I was told I have to wait on the Rocky, though. I wanted to order a gently-used doserless one but couldn't convince the other half that it was a worth-while expense all in one shot. You know how that goes. Maybe in a few weeks.

It's a pity it's so close to the weekend. It probably won't ship until tomorrow (I hope..) and won't arrive to early in the week.

I can't wait to start working on my espresso technique!

Again, thanks.
