Posted Fri May 6, 2011, 4:33am Subject: SOLD: La Marzocco GS/3 Paddle - One Year Old
Now I am listing my gently used La Marzocco GS/3 Paddle just one year young. If you looked at my Conti Prestina sale then you know I have Speedster on order so with Speedster coming soon it is time to sell GS/3.
I took very good care of this machine. It was used with Claris water filter and water was tested monthly. Water going into the machine was of Calcium hardness less than 20 and gH for general hardness is less than 50. This means any scale is really minimized. Here is my cleaning schedule:
- Daily at the end of the session - take group screen off and clean the both group head and screen. Backflush. Clean the machine. Draw 250ml of water from steam boiler to make sure water is exchanged there and fresh. - Weekly - Detergent backflush with Cafiza and cleaning. - I just did paddle maintenance where O-rings where changed and paddle lubricated. This is really easy job and should be done about every 8-12 months. - Group gasket and shower-screen have been replaced.
I used this machined plumbed-in but there is original reservoir so it can be easily changed to pour-over any time.
Advantage of GS/3 with Paddle is that you have 100% control over the pre-infusion and operation and making of espresso is somehow more intimate and you get involved in the process. What can I say about GS/3 is that if you are not making good espresso with it, you know it is you and not the machine :-). I also love that machine has built-in timer so it can be automatically turned on in the morning and turned off at night. I am going to really miss that on Speedster. Don't even ask about temperature stability, it is best in class... Machine also has the new-design drip tray cover that doesn't spill or leak ($300 item).
Price is $4000 plus shipping (lower 48 only) - Paypal preferred. $3800 CASH if you pick it up at Novi, MI, 48375
If you are in driving distance I strongly recommend local pickup and would greatly prefer that.
Included are original single and double portafilters and LM bottomless portafilter, 2 LM ridged baskets, 2 LM single baskets, 1 LM tripple basket, 1 blind backflush filter as well as original manuals.

There are units like this, but they aren't simple plug-in timers. Undoubtedly there are plug-in, 7 day units in Europe (or other 240v countries) that could be used. Any of our overseas friends care to chime in?
