Espresso: Quickmill Andreja Grinder: Baratza vario
Posted Sun Feb 26, 2012, 12:26pm Subject: **SOLD** Quickmill Andreja + Baratza Vario grinder + misc.
Complete semi-professional home espresso set-up, put together by me over the past ¾ year. The espresso machine was bought used here and completely serviced and upgraded by Chris Coffee (US) prior to pick-up by me (and bringing up to the Great White North). All other listed items were new.
Selling, since my wife and I are getting a new car and deciding on some home renos. Sigh – I’ll just have to put a set like this together again a number of years from now.
Included (as pictured):
Quickmill Andreja espresso machine: E61 group head, recently serviced and working perfectly. Has a PID installed in the grouphead for accurate temperature surfing. Upgraded steam joystick (easier to froth milk). Only appropriate distilled water blend was used to avoid scaling, and was backflushed/cleaned each week. Comes with double and single-spout portafilters, double, single and blind-flush basket, and VST double basket.
Baratza Vario grinder – variable, programmable time settings, and macro/micro grind-levers to either side of chute vary from powdery Turkish grind to rubble French press and everywhere in-between. Consistent and reliable grind. Cleaned with Grindz every week (3 more sachets included, as shown). Approx. 35 lbs have passed through it.
Two tampers – one convex surface, other flat surface and milled specifically for VST double filter. Also includes Orphan Espresso ‘SlapShot’ for knocking-down grinds and acting as a surface for tamping (i.e., not ruining your counters), and Orphan Espresso dosing funnel.
Two Espro milk frothing jugs (12oz and 20oz) plus clipping milk thermometer with froth-range indicated in green.
Cafelat knockbox, Cafelat grouphead cleaning brush (with replacement bristles), ¾ container of Joe Glo (backflusing) cleaner, micro-scale (for determining appropriate dosing time for the Vario), plug-in 7-day electronic outlet timer (no need to keep it on 24/7), four small and two larger TightVac vacuum holders (extend the life of freshly-roasted coffee). Four measuring shot glasses (two squat Starbucks, two taller and fluted).
Will also include espresso/cappuccino cups (shown).
Normal price (new) for the foregoing (including taxes here in Canada), placing a value of a new Andreja at $1595, approx: $2,900.
I am selling for $1550 (that's $100 cheaper than other places I'm advertising, in honour of the good deals I myself have received here and respect for the CG world).
I am really hesitant to package everything up and ship - I'm in Ottawa (Canada), and would prefer a nearby Canuck CGer to step-up here with any interest.
Believe it's a great deal for someone getting started and getting everything they need.
Happy to provide pics to people who ask - can't seem to get anything down (reasonably) to 75kb for posting here - any suggestions would be more than welcome in that regard.
Cheers.
C.

First, CraigA - many thanks - I'll try that over the next couple of crazy/hectic days. For those interested, I'm more than happy to send uncompressed pictures if you email me.
STG and Saranoelle - at this point, I'd really like to keep things as a package, for someone in or around the Ottawa area who just wants a one-stop-shop for the set-up. That said, should it get to the point where that's not going to work, I'd consider you each first-in-line for those items (respectively).
Also (for all), as this was not likely clear, my $ is in Canadian currency.
and here is the current exchange rate for the conversion.....
1 US dollar = 1.0035 Canadian dollars

BB - handy - tx - never realized our dollar was doing so well now! Maybe I should switch to US$ for this sale, just to have a safe stash for the coming apocalypse (or, maybe, a trip down south).
