Subject: WTB: Vintage Lever Pull Espresso Machine

Hi everyone, some friends over at Home Barista recommended I stop by over here.

I am looking to buy my first ever espresso machine - a vintage lever pull. I know these require a bit of time and devotion... I am willing to learn. I love vintage things so, I am looking for a La Pavoni Pre-Millennium Europiccola with the dual switch, bolt on group head... I would prefer a chrome version, but would take any of the colored bases as well. Unit needs to be 110. Would prefer the 1000w high setting version. In good condition, I don't mind if it shows its age, as long as it is in good working order. I would be willing to do some restore work if needed as well. If it comes with a naked portafilter - even better ;-)

I do not have a large budget, I can swing $500 not much more at the moment. I have found a number of them on eBay that end up a bit lower, but I'd rather buy one from a coffee geek.

If I cannot find a La Pavoni in that range... I would be open to a Caravel, or other lever machines as well.

Thanks for your consideration.

5/29/2012 Edited: budget from $300 to $500

Buying advice: GRINDER GRINDER GRINDER. Don't cheap out on the grinder.

Sadly, I do not know enough about this specific system to go with it.

Or there's my Pavoni on here for $550 and it's been serviced by Christopher Cara in SF.

I will vouch for Ms DoubleO.
She is also a highly regarded HB member/contributor.

To be fair, the Sama is a worthy machine too.
