Mid-Noob currently with PIDed Silvia and Super Jolly with some X-mas time upgrade-itis of the Machina.
While I recently joined, I have been lurking in the forums learning what I can. Looking to upgrade to a Double Boiler/PID- been looking at VBM DD, Alex Duetto and Expobar Brewtus to pair with my SJ. I can't plumb in, so need a pour over.
I am a 2 shots a weekday guy, but would like to add more god shots and milk drinks to my daily consumption. The Silvia is a PIA to wait for steaming and I am unable to consistently get microfoam. And, I just want an upgrade.
Would like to spend no more than 1200 - on Brewtus - but will consider spending more for a Duetto or DD in great shape.
Any Duetto upgraders out there? Want to go to the Mark iii?

At that price point I think you might have better luck by expanding your search to HX machines also. They can pull a shot and steam at the same time just like a DB can. If they sit idle for a prolonged peroid of time, a little water needs to be cleared from the brew system before pulling a shot but this is very quick, under 10 seconds sometimes not at all like if you just pulled a shot. It is much more difficult to talk and read about than to do, sort of like driving a stick shift car. If you list each step it looks really hard but if you just do it a few times, you don't even think about it any more.
It is NOTHING like working with a PID Sylvia, yes I also have one but my daily workhorse is a HX machine..
If you really want a DB, there is nothing wrong with that either,it is just that because of more parts in them, they tend to cost more than your budget, even used but you might get lucky!

Hey guy, I have a brand new Breville Dual Boiler I'm going to post for $900. Still under warranty and a ridiculous amount of machine for the money. After reading the reviews on here and watching some videos on it, I thought I'd buy one to compare to my Andreja Premium. But I can tell my wife would rather me keep the Quickmill.
