I bought a used Behmor 1600 and just had to replace the board.. It was somewhat easy and cheap to be honest I would just buy one new one. You will get more for what you pay for if you take this route. A Behmor in good shape may cost close to what it costs new anyway.
I too was looking for a used Behmor. They don't go cheap, so I decided the new one was really the best deal. I ordered from Roastmasters. They have the Behmor for $300, including 8 lbs of green beans, a coupon for $10 off your next order of green beans, + free shipping to the lower 48, or $20 off to AK or Canada. Mine should be shipping tomorrow :-)
I saw this thread and I was in the same boat. I've decided to get a Behmor and maybe try the DIY roaster at a later date. That Roastmaster deal is good. I was going to order from Sweet Marias where I get all my green beans but it will cost $15 in shipping there. When you consider the 8 lbs of coffee would normally cost you in the nighborhood of $40-$50 not including shipping that $300 price tag shrinks some. Plus you get a warranty.
I think you guys are right. There is less than $100 difference between a new and used Behmor 1600. Plus, like you say, a new one usually comes with free shipping (when ordered online) and usually with some green coffee beans. So far the Roastmaster.com offer is looking the best. Thanks for everyone's input!
