Hi, for sale is a Grimac La Valentina Semi-Auto, follow the WLL link for more details and a demonstration. Click Here (www.wholelattelove.com)

I've had this since January 2010, I got it used off of another CoffeeGeek member.  The machine is dated 2007.  I replaced the power on/off switch twice.  Turns out the lead was dropping current and burning through the switch, as soon as I realized that I fixed the lead so it was no longer dropping current and the power switch has worked without fail ever since.  It's been about a year since the last replaced power switch and there are no signs of imminent malfunction.

It has an Eric's thermometer which is great, as they're not cheap and also, they're not EASY to install on the La Valentina.  Luckily it was pre-installed for me.

I got another machine in December 2012 so the La Valentina has seen no use since.  It's not in a garage or anything, just in another location in the apartment.  I will fire her up and flush some water through and pull a shot or two to get her going and make sure all is still fine.

I've replaced the Vibe pump within the last year, so it's very new.

I'm asking $800 plus actual shipping.  Willing to ship, but highly hesitant to ship.  I will consider local pick-up offers over 'shipping' offers.  I'm not 100% positive shipping is a good idea for these machines!

I will post photos later tonight.

/EDIT

Posted the many photos.  Also, fired her up and refreshed the water inside.  Everything working in order.

Hi I might be interested, I live in Montreal though.
Do you think it is possible to send it by bus, would it be safer?
Or you have a friend who travel to Montreal?

Let me know

Natalie

I do not have a friend who is travelling to Montreal and I would trust shipping it over sending it over on a bus with a stranger... I'm not even sure how that would work.

If you want to pay for shipping and accept any issues with any damages during shipping, be my guest, we can arrange to ship it.  However, regardless of packing it 'properly' it's about 80lbs and it will make short measure of the box(es) it's in if mishandled.  This is true for EVERY espresso machine shipped.

Tony, this appears to be an automatic version of La Valentina, not semiautomatic. It's actually a couple hundred dollars more expensive new. Just FYI.

Thanks, I do know it's called the 'automatic', but it IS a semi-automatic machine.  I didn't want to mislead people into thinking it's a super-auto or something.

But, yes, this machine does have volumetric dosing.  If that's your thing, than for $800 this machine is a pretty good deal.  If you're considering a Silvia, don't bother especially if a machine like this at this price can be had.  Used machines aren't necessarily less reliable, especially these types of machines that can be very easily serviced and maintained forever.

I also just realized that the tray was pulled out about an inch or two in the pictures.  The machine isn't designed like that... sorry!

The terminology is very straightforward and common. An automatic has volumetric dosing, a semi-automatic does not. A super-auto is a different beast entirely that we try to avoid discussing as much as possible (JK- well maybe not- well maybe...). You're actually just confusing most people by calling an automatic a semi-automatic. I wouldn't worry about misleading anyone, if someone  were looking at it that didn't know the difference then I would hope they would investigate it enough to know before getting too serious.
