I don't know that it is possible to upgrade from a Compak K10, but if you have one you would like to sell I'd like to hear from you. I'd also be interested in hearing how you felt about it for home use (I already know it's massive overkill, so please don't go there).
As the new ones are going for $1,400 and up, I'm interested in one (most preferably) under $1000. It'll be shipped to a home in Austin, TX -- not my current residence in Vietnam.
Hoping to find one before end of September. [Hope springs eternal, and all that...]

I assume you are looking for the Pro Barista model with the doser (based on price) ? I have used both the PB and Fresh and chose the Fresh over the doser. They are both fantastic machines but the convenience and look of the Fresh got me. How many coffees do you make in a day? Do you mind purging some coffee prior to the first shot? Do you mind bumping and brushing with a doser? Do you make milk based drinks and use sugar? Knowing this would help us determine how to better answer your questions.
Thanks, Angman, for the response. I've seen a video on the K6 which talked about purging prior to the first shot (and figured this was going to be the case with any Compak), and read other stuff about having to sweep the doser, the force necessary to turn the grind adjustment, etc. -- I guess I am looking for any info on quirks or other things that one normally doesn't hear about b/c they are personal 'issues' rather than a machine problem, e.g., "the hopper squeaks when I remove the lid."
1/2 a dozen drinks a day, with more on the occasions when there are visitors. Mostly single/double espresso as a stand alone; occasional latte; definitely sugar.
And in the bigger picture, I was serious about the unlikelihood that someone would be upgrading but if you don't ask, you never know. More of an ideal hope (pipe dream?) that I would end up with one for a great price than a belief that one is out there waiting for me -- realistically, if there is one, I know that others would also be interested in pursuing it.
If you're making half a dozen + drinks a day with sugar then I can highly recommend the Fresh. It is an amazing grinder and like you said, there likely won't be another upgrade in sight. The only reason you may find one for sale is if someone wants a change just because they can. I have one and would contemplate selling or trading it, but only if something peaks my interest. The only issues that I have with the K10 is that its almost too fast and does tend to waste a lot of beans if you're not careful when dialing it in and/or changing beans. Other then that it's perfect. What other grinder let's you program a custom message for yourself every morning when you turn it on?
