Subject: Zaffiro in Chicago ( needs some repairs )

About 10 years ago I bought an Isomac Zaffiro, largely based on the reviews on coffeegeek.    I only use the machine for straight espresso, and it has generally been very good to me.   However, I am not a handy person, and over the years have struggled to make the needed repairs.   At some point the steam thermostat caused trouble and I eventually just re-wired to avoid it entirely, since I never steamed.   The spring valve under the tank seems to have failed as well.    Much of the wiring seems to have seen some heat damage.   Finally, a few months ago, the machine started tripping the GFCI occasionally.  Once reset it worked fine.   The frequency increased until it would no longer function at all.   After some failed attempts to repair it myself I gave in and bought the upgrade I'd been wanting.    So, I now have a machine that I no longer need and which requires several repairs (all minor, I think, but what do I know?).    I'd like to pass it along to someone capable in the Chicago area who can fix it up and appreciate what it has to offer.   Price is negotiable.   If anyone is interested please let me know.

Sorry for the delay in responding, it took me awhile to unpack and disassemble it for photos.    I hope someone in the area wants to fix this up and actually use it, although the lack of response here has me worried.   I'm not really in any hurry, it'll just sit in my basement until I find the right next owner.   I'm having some trouble attaching any photos as even the crudest are "too large".   If you are at all interested please PM me and I'm happy to e-mail all the photos I have and to take others to highlight anything of concern.

I should add that the water tank is new (the original couldn't take the heat) and that I'll include two pf handles with double/single/backflush baskets well as a replacement heater element that I haven't yet tried to install myself.    I think I also have some extra gaskets of various kinds, but no promises on what exactly they are.  I'm fairly sure this is all worth quite a bit more than I am asking, but I also know that looking for someone who can pickup in person in the Chicago area and can make their own basic repairs is asking a lot, so I may simply have no target market for now.    I'm not in any hurry, and will try again in a few months if I get no response now.

If I'm missing something important about damage to the machine or other issues, please let me know.   I know I'm not an expert and don't want to mislead anyone.

I added a pubic e-mail to my CG info, you can email me there.   My wife or I will be in Madison and Milwaukee over the summer, so we could easily arrange for pickup there if that is preferred.   I really just want to avoid shipping the machine since damage during shipping is so common and also so messy to deal with.
