especially on this page of the forum we are all very into the hardware of our coffeegeekness my guess is that a large number of us use Apple computers, iPods and maybe even iPhones!
this is a bit off topic but on a more serious note it is interesting to find out what kind of person becomes/is a coffeegeek.

-what kind of computer do you own?
-what kind of espresso machine do you own?

I'll start this off by saying that I have a Apple laptop, Powerbook and an Apple desktop G5 workstation.
On the coffee front I have a Giotto Premium (and a Mazzer Mini E v. B grinder)

thanks,

alexander

Hi:

I,  too,  have an Apple desktop G5 workstation.  I've been an Apple user since the beginning (at least 20 years).

On my coffee front, I currently have a Gaggia Coffee and MDF grinder-

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo, not Apple! =)

I'm using a dual core AMD, 2 GB RAM and 1 TB disk space.

For coffee I'm using a Pasquini K2/Anfim for grinding and a Gaggia Baby Twin and Bodum press for making the coffee.

MacBook for me.  Apple user for the last 12 years.  I'd go to Starbucks before I'd go back to a PC!

I don't see what this has got anything todo with coffee.

I even have an argument of coffeegeeks againsts Apple computers.

As someone who likes tinker-toys I speak for Linux PCs. If I wanted an Apple, I'd probably be somone who wants things to work out of the box, so I would need to have a super-auto espresso machine.

Anyways, dual-processor Xeon at work (Linux), OQO02 (XP Tablet/Linux) for the rest of time, Linux file server (1.5TB total) for my home audio/video.
And yes, I own several Apple Airport Express for Airtunes wireless audio.

To speak for my hypothesis of Coffeegeek/TinkerToys vs. Apple/Non-Tinkerer:
My wife has 2 Apple computers (PowerBook and DualG5) and eventhough she loves my Cappuccino and can tell good from bad coffee, if I don't make coffee for her, she'll drink instant coffee, cuz she likes things that just work without much effort. She says her work gives her enough puzzles (she's researcher in Genetics).

I think the true Coffeegeek should, be willing to do without computers at all, before even thinking *$  :)
