Like many, I've been lurking for some time. Gathering information etc. I hope someone can help me with this decision......after months of reading I finally decided on a new machine....ms. Anita. However, the other day I came accross what appears to be a good deal on an Andreja. It's a demo for the same price as the Anita. It's not from Chris and doesn't have the full warranty. What to do? Any help would be appreciated

Have you tried calling Chris to see if he might have a similar buyer's remorse Andreja? You never know what they might have, and I've bought some parts from Chris and highly recommend them. They really surprised me with how personal the experience felt even though I only bought a few small parts. It was beyond my expectations, and I can't say that about many companies I've bought from. There are a few others that have great reputations and if possible you might want to work with them in case you have any issues. The support is a big consideration with an expensive machines such as those you're looking at. I'm sure others will respond with their suggestions.

All machines need servicing and very few places have service available locally. Most of us end up doing some amount of service ourselves, which is cool because you get closer to the espresso process. Imagine that you've had your machine for a few months and you've come to depend on that great shot in the morning and then the magic stops working. That happened to me a couple of time with my old machine and all I could think about was getting it fixed RIGHT NOW. An average vendor may be able to help you with simple problems, but you really want an expert whose technicians can talk you through trouble shooting and reparing. I got my current machine from Chris and had a question, not a problem that I emailed to him. I got a prompt response that Chris had alerted his techs and they were waiting for me to call. I called and got a really nice guy to answer my question. He was right, too.

Hey...this is the Chicago thread! Well, a few months ago when I was looking for my first machine I was also torn between Anita and Andreja, until the prices went up everywhere and put Andreja out of my league. So, I got the Anita (since seeing it in person at the Chicago Geekfest in Feb) and I'm crazy about her. IF better shots can be pulled from the Andreja it's probably only marginal and I'm pretty careful so I can live without the no burn steam and hot water wands. That said together with Chris' legendary service...Anita is the way to go.
