In the late 60’s and early 70’s we were hippy wannabes and shoes were usually an afterthought, if a thought at all, for many of the kids during the summers in my home town.

So if you are one of those people that enjoyed or enjoy walking the streets bare foot and really miss the feeling, check out Vibram Five Fingers.    www.vibramfivefingers.com

I’m walking on a public track as well as my neighborhood streets with a pair of Classics and I have to say that they are pretty great. I do all the yard work without shoes anyway so the feeling isn’t that new to me. The difference is in knowing that your feet are protected from the wrath of the street. They are like a glove, a protective membrane that allows you to walk perfectly naturally, the way that you walk. I’ve logged about 20 miles since I put them on and my joints feel terrific.

They are funny looking but if you are a barefooter living in a socially prohibitive part of the world you will like them for sure. Kevin

I've wanted a pair of these since the first time I saw them. I'd love to wear them for air travel just to see how the "security theatre" folks would react.

Hey Kevin,

I do a bit of barefoot running and also kayaking...i first heard of the vibram five fingers for kayaking but also read some of the real long distance barefoot runners use these for rough trail runs.  They look a little unusual for sure but i may try them someday when i need some new kayak shoes.
