This was in reference to the US presidential election. It could have easily been No! if the Right won but the Left did so it was Yes!

Thanks again, I assumed as much, but its nice to have it said.
While I wasn't an Obama supporter I'm not surprised with the election results seeing the unpopularity of Bush and the sense of American frustration with the current political scene. Obama comes as a fresh breath for most Americans fed up with current politics, economy and energy prices.
I was a Bush supporter and think he did good under the circumstances faced by his administration. No administration is perfect and Bush's certainly wasn't, but I think he did more good than harm with the problems he faced. Many folks would disagree with that and thats okay. Just my opinion right or wrong.
While its very exciting to have experienced an historical election and I do wish our new president the best of luck and he has my support as my president his polices sat a little too left for me. Like a pendulum we're swinging back the other way (such is politics) I just hope we don't swing too far* back to the left. I consider myself a moderate/conservative Independent. While McCain had his own issues (and I had disagreements with him too) I supported him rather than Obama.
Really though the next President has a monumental task before them and I wish him the best of luck and offer my support as an American. Like most Americans I truly believe in this country and its citizens. I hope our nation can make positive progress for all its citizens and our allies abroad.

Well said Tim!
I too didn't vote for Obama, but the reality stands that he IS our president. The best we can do as Americans is to support him in doing what's best for our country and the worst we could do is start with any "Obama ISN'T my president" talk; I'm happy to say I haven't heard any of that :)

Tim, you are certainly entitled to your opinion. But I have to wonder why you would conclude that the Bush administration has done anything right. Let's see... Bush has embroiled our nation in two costly and morally questionable wars, sanctioned torture, infringed upon our civil liberties, and turned our airports into something resembling a bad scifi movie. Our economy is a shambles, the stock market is in free fall, national debt is skyrocketing, and the mortgage crisis has "forced" an insanely expensive bailout plan. Scientific findings have been ignored and/or misused for the sake of big oil and the religious right. In less than a decade, the US has gone from a respected member of the world community to a nation that is regarded with fear and derision around the globe. Need I continue?
The buck stops at the top, my friend. This will be remembered as one of the worst administrations in our nation's history. It has certainly been the worst in my lifetime (and I lived through Nixon!). I can't wait for a change. ==== John

Not to mention that Bush inherited no wars, a healthy economy, and treasury surpluses. The same cannot be said about the president elect. As a registered Republican, I have never supported Bush, was quite unimpressed with McCain, and think our choice in this election was for the best.
Politics and partisanship remind me of a joke a friend once told me:
"Whats the difference between a Democrat and a Republican?"
Answer: "Republicans stab you in the chest; Democrats in the back."
Len
"Coffee leads men to trifle away their time, scald their chops, and spend their money, all for a little base, black, thick, nasty, bitter, stinking nauseous puddle water." ~The Women's Petition Against Coffee, 1674
If it makes any difference: I am not registered for either party. My political views are all over the map, and my comments were not partisan in any way. You don't have to be a registered Democrat to hate what the Bush administration has done to our country.
Let's agree that its time to move forward and work toward improving our economy, our environment and our world image. This is a time of great hope for us as a nation and as citizens of the world. Let's hope we can live up to it.
