Have recently been involved in attempting to pull great shots.  Over 15 years have progressed from my Starbuck's machine to Rocket Cellini almost 3 years ago.  I am looking for information about moving up, what ever that means.

Hope to learn more and see what, if any, machine is in my future.

What is it that you do not like about your current setup?
The Cellini is a darn good prosumer machine and in a home, you will not gain a lot if at all by buying another machine, look to your grinder for updating, the machine is an accessory to the grinder then the other way around.

You could always go to commercial equipment (I love that stuff!) so I ask, again what is lacking in your setup?

Actually i have made the move.  I went to the Alex Duetto because of the double boiler setup.  For me the ease of avoiding temperature surfing makes the DB type machine superior.  I have read about the positives of using a HX type machine, but for me the DB setup is better.  Can't actually put it into words.  I also moved up from my Rocky to a Mazzer Mini electronic B.  I realize that will probably help more than the DB.

Congrats on the New equipment. everyone sees things differently and for you that was to go db.

temp surfing is something you do on a single boiler machine not a hx one. the cooling flush is not temp surfing. it is clearing the over temp water to reach the very stable water in the hx tube.

both d b and h x machines produce excellent shots. 1 is not better than the other however 1 may be better suited to the way your mind works so I say again congratulations on your new equipment may you enjoy it for a long time.

oh and don't forget your going to need to flush this machine to. double boiler machines have a tendency to have the group it cool down between long periods of shots so you're going to need to warm the group at up. also all machines need to be flushed between shots to get rid of the spent grounds that are stuck to the dispersion screen .

and changing the temperature isn't as easy as just pushing a button you're going to have to wait for the machine to stabilize at the new temperature. Then depending on how big of a change and in which direction you may need to wait up to 20 minutes for the machine to stabilize at the new temp.

Interesting about need to raise temperature with DB.  I must have missed this.  Do you have any information about ccs or time to get Alex Duetto up to temperature?

you've only been here for a couple of days but there is a huge volume of information here just waiting for you to access it.
we love to spend other people's money almost as much as we love to get them into the right machine for them too bad you didn't give us a chance.

any quality espresso machine will take at least half an hour to warm up from a cold start  and 45minutes would be better.

After it is warmed up give it a flush about the same as a hx machine that is warmed but not over temp. a oz or two should do it . or about what you flush to clean the spent grounds from the group head.

if you are changing temp then give the machine about 5minutes to stablize at the New temp if it was only a deg or two. for larger changes as much as 20minutes may be need.

don't get me wrong that is a very nice machine and the members who own them are very happy with them.

There is no such thing as a perfect machine. they all have trade offs.

This is true with grinders too. the mini e is a very nice grinder but there are several less expensive grinders that can do as good or better job for less money. they are not built as solid as the mini e but they are very good high end home grinders none the less and many here with much more expensive grinders than the mini e and they are very happy with those grinders.

We are all about sharing what we know and there is much to learn here.
