Seriously, take your time and have your fair share of fresh coffee now until little one sees the light of the world. Hone your skills now.
I am now the dad of a lovely 2.5 months old and I can tell you: You will be so busy that you won't find a lot of time to brew coffee. At least mine keeps me occupied pretty well (and smiling all the time). Oh, and when he is sleeping then no grinding.

Congrats. I'm a dad of a 9-month old boy and I'm smiling all the time too :-)
Suggestions: Pharos hand grinder w/mods. If you have the $$$, go for the HG One hand grinder and upgrade to an espresso machine with rotary pump (more quiet than the Silvia).

Congrats. I have an 18mo and 3 year old. Contrary to popular opinion, kids will sleep through anything at that age. I've never worried about sleeping children with the bit of noise in the kitchen. YMMV.

My 4 1/2 year old never put a damper on our coffee habit (had a Silvia/Rocky combo back then). We do at least 4 cappas and lattes in my house every day, and when we were sleep deprived that number went up. Our second son is due in a couple of weeks and I can assure you, it'll only increase the frequency of using my coffee bar, if it changes anything at all. Grinder noise is certainly not going to be an issue...nor is steaming or pulling shots.

Congratulations to all the parents of newborns. I have three teen girls in the house, two of them drink up my coffee so I had to upgrade to brewing by the pot with the Brazen rather than pour-over to keep up with demand.
What worked well for us as new parents was to not walk on eggshells when the baby was sleeping. We'd use the TV, vacuum, live our lives and the kids learned to sleep through anything. I think it worked out better than training them to only sleep when it's quiet.

Well, everyone...I'm a proud new Daddy! We just had our second boy Monday. He's awesome! My wife is a real trooper...she delivered him au natural[x[ (totally her choice), and he was 9#, 6oz and 22" long!
We got home from the hospital this afternoon...What's the first thing I did after turning the alarm off in the house? You guessed it, turned on my espresso machine...oh, it's nice to be back home :)
