not even...as i suspected, coffee consumption is up at my house since our new baby arrived last week. No problem with him sleeping right on through it so far. Funny though, my hand grinder is in my office at work.

^^^ This! We're reaping the benefits with baby #2. Although I do admit to reaching first for my hand grinder if it's close to when our youngest usually gets up *just in case*... ;)
I've found I had to prioritize, so I chose to geek out on brewed coffee at the expense of espresso.

Well, everyone...I'm a proud new Daddy! We just had our second boy Monday. He's awesome! My wife is a real trooper...she delivered him au natural[x[ (totally her choice), and he was 9#, 6oz and 22" long!
We got home from the hospital this afternoon...What's the first thing I did after turning the alarm off in the house? You guessed it, turned on my espresso machine...oh, it's nice to be back home :)[x]
Congrats! Babies can certainly keep you up at night, so get grinding that coffee ;)
They don't sleep much at night anyway, so if you do the bulk of your grinding then you should be fine! :D

Yeah, this baby is a great sleeper. I'm getting 3-hour blocks a couple of times a night. As always, I'm grinding on demand - it's just that the I've been making more drinks than usual for me, my wife, my mother-in-law and my father-in-law (who live in our house most of the time). gonna have visitors this weeklend too.

Congrats on the new baby. My "baby" is 13 so the closest thing I get to this is my nephew who is several months old. It's fun to have contact with a baby again, sometimes with three teenage girls in the house I wish we could turn back the clock to simpler times, but every age has it's own challenges and rewards.

My 4 year old is a budding coffee drinker. He asks for coffee sometimes in the morning or at other times when the rest of the family is having it. If I give him only frothed milk, he asks for some of the "brown part", so I try to dot his milk with decaf crema/milk taken from the top of my wife's latte.
My hope is that when he becomes a real coffee drinker, he'll have learned enough about making them that he can help out...more than just thwacking the lever on the grinder doser and holding my hand while I tamp. The good news is, he's always scared off by the steam.

I have an 18 month old daughter and am expecting #2 in the spring. Honestly, it didn't ever occur to me to NOT grind coffee while baby was sleeping. She's always slept right through it.
