Is brand X ALWAYS better than brand Y? Does EVERYONE like the exact same thing all the time? Is a $500,000 sports car worth the price?
I think you can see, the answer is...... it depends. Everyone likes different things and what one person likes may not be worth the price to the next person.

With Hawaiian 'blends' you will get mostly foreign coffee mixed with some Hawaiian beans. You can identify this by a low price right away. The name 'Hawaii' is simply used to dupe customers to think that they would get a quality origin product for cheap.
Same with any Kona 'blends': One can't judge from a 90% diluted champagne how the real stuff tastes.
Look out for the 100% Kona Coffee or 100% Ka'u Coffee. Best from one farm. These two regions have one of the worlds best soil & climate for arabica coffee. The island of Maui has also some good farms but check that those beans are handpicked, as they have large mechanized harvested estates as well. Kauai and Molokai island coffee are also mechanically harvested. They have a very different profile and are much lower in price.
As for taste, try a variety of farms. There are some so-so 100% Konas and there are some real superb ones. Expect to pay btw $20-50 per pound.
