Posted Wed Jun 1, 2011, 8:05am Subject: Favorite Espresso Drinks With Any Kind of Alcoholic Beverage Added
I know it might be considered sacrilege by some to concoct alcoholic beverages with espresso, but, every once in a while my wife and I will enjoy basically a cappuccino with either Baileys or a coffee liquor of some kind added to it. They have been really spectacular fun and very enjoyable after an early supper on the weekend. I did some searches on coffeegeek and could not find any type of discussion about this subject.
What is your favorite espresso based drink with any kind of a alcoholic beverage which could be wine, brandy, hard stuff, liqueur, etc?

I make a drink I call an Ivan Drago. If you don't remember, Ivan Drago was Rocky's opponent in Rocky IV. It's basically a white Russian on steroids. Hence the Ivan drago.
Basically a double espresso, 2 jiggers vodka, splash of simple syrup or vanilla syrup and milk/cream over ice in a rocks glass. The real espresso really does make for nice drink. Yeah I know, espresso over ice ruins etc etc. But we enjoy it here in our household. Pouring th espresso in last makes for a cool visual affect too.
I've done some variations on this as a floated drink and served up, but over rocks as described above is th best.

honestly I prefer simple syrup, but the vanilla does add something. I'm not overly particular about flavored syrups, I prefer da Vinci over torani. Monin is supposedly good.

1oz. espresso 2oz.Irish Whiskey 2Tbl. brown sugar Heavy cream sweetened with white sugar, beaten to the consistency of custard. Dissolve brown sugar in whiskey in pan on stove or use espresso steam wand. Carefully put a match to wiskey/sugar mixture, and flame for a few seconds. Blow out flame, pour whiskey into galss, add espresso, top with dollop of heavy cream mixture-enjoy!
