A versatile sauce that can be used both as a meat marinade and a serving sauce. This delicious smoky barbeque sauce with has a wonderful undertone of espresso and is the perfect accompaniment to pork, beef and chicken. It’s really simple to make and can be stored in the fridge for up to 2 weeks after preparation.
Ingredients 125ml brewed espresso 250ml tomato ketchup 125ml cider vinegar 115g light brown sugar 1 onion, peeled and finely chopped 2 garlic cloves, peeled and crushed 3 fresh hot chilli peppers, as hot as you like, seeded 30ml English mustard 30ml Worcestershire sauce 28g ground cumin 28g chilli powder
Method
Place all of the ingredients into a small saucepan, place on the cooker over a medium-high heat and stir, bring to a simmer
Lower the heat slightly until the mixture is just simmering
Allow to simmer for 20 minutes
Remove the saucepan from the heat
Allow the mixture to cool
Pour the mixture into a food processor or blender and puree
Pour your coffee barbeque sauce into an airtight container and store in the fridge. If stored correctly coffee barbeque sauce should keep in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
