This is our favorite coffee martini. I poached it off of a post somewhere around 2003 and it caused me get on the slippery slope of coffee roasting and espresso machines. I have never looked back.
Preparation: Place a couple thick stemmed martini glasses in the freezer for 30 minutes or so. Sprinkle some unsweetened cocoa powder on a plate or wax paper, you will use this to rim the martini glass. Get two different size bowls, one will be used to hold ice cubes and a little water and the other will be for the espresso shots. I use a small stainless steel bowl for the shots.
I use my espresso machine to pull double shots and I always use fresh roasted beans. I fill the larger bowl with ice cubes and water then pour the shots into the smaller stainless steel bowl, then place it in the larger bowl with ice water to chill the espresso.
Get the shaker, fill with ice. 1 shot chilled espresso 1 shot Stoli Vanilla Vodka 1 shot Stoli Coffee Vodka 1 shot Kaluah
Shake well in the shaker. Remove martini glass from the freezer and rim with the cocoa powder. Strain the drink into the martini glass and garnish with a couple of coffee beans. Enjoy; this is a very flavorful drink and if the first one doesn't satisfy, the second one will. I have never made it to the third! :)
This martini is a not sweet and you can really enjoy the coffee flavor. When we have coffee loving company, I make these and have always had to make seconds.
