Subject: My new morning cup . . .

Now that I have the Rituale, I've totally abandoned using any drip brewer.  I did get a single cup Swiss Gold filter thingy to take when I travel, but that's all.  I like Kenyan in the morning and espresso drinks later in the day.  It's not really about the time of day so much as I like both tastes.  Also, as I roast more, I'll be trying other single-origins.  So, I've been experimenting with Americanos for my morning cup, using the Kenyan beans.  (Freshly roaster Kenyan, ground just before brewing - can't be beat.)

I confess I like milk in my coffee. (You purists don't give me any grief.  I'm working on it.)  So here's my latest . . .

1/3 Kenyan espresso
1/3 steamed milk - just lightly foamed
1/3 hot water
sweetner to taste

I'm thinking of calling it "Kenyan Americano Au Lait."

What do you think?

I think that it is a wonderful drink if you like it. Where did we evolve the idea that in order to be regarded a true coffeegeek we had to like our coffee as others like it. It is just the opposite. If you have a unique drink that you alone prepare, you can be regarded the truer coffeegeek.

Cheers,
Bob

I'm a milk in coffee fan also. Right now milk is vital because I am not doing something right in the roasting department. The Kenyan Americano sounds great.

I drink a soy latte for breakfast. It goes well with my oatmeal which is also made with soy. Straight shots are for after 10am.

I'm the opposite.  First coffees of the day are straight, black, no sweetener of any kind.  Either drip or Americanos.  As the day progresses, I get more into lattes, 'chinos (often with whimsical names such as "Rox-a-chino", "chino beverage", etc.)

Wow! We can name our drinks....I like that....Delicatebrew's super duper latte supreme (ok I'm new at this) ;0

My first drink of the morning is also a soy latte.  Must be Sun Soy Vanilla, with a little Guittard white chocolate sauce mixed in.

After dinner is usually followed up with an espresso con panna.
