Hi,
I was wondering if any of you know a nice recipe for a espresso based cocktail sort of drink. I've been experimeting with a cocktail shaker and different kinds of syrups but i cant come to nice result. All kinds of help are welcome and appreciated.
First off, welcome to the site! Glad you found us. You'll find many members here with lots of wisdom to share, and a killer search engine for skimming through forums.
As far as cocktail-ish drinks, you might try searching around for recipes for and concepts behind the "Specialty Drinks" of top barista competition competitiors. If that makes sense, stop reading and go start searching. If not, read on.
Not sure how much you know, so I'll give you a quick rundown. A Barista (male or female) is someone passionate and skilled in the art of specialty coffee preparation. This usually centers around consistently pulling great espresso shots, perfectly steaming milk, and combining the two. In competitions for Baristi, they often have to pump out X number of straight shots, x number of cappuccinos, and a specialty drink for judges in a time window. These specialty drinks often bear resemblance in principle or appearance to cocktails. Some are served in martini glasses. Some involve shakers in the production, etc, etc.
So, I'm not sure where exactly you should look, but look for records from past Barista competitions, both on the US and World levels. Maybe you can get ideas from learning about what champions' specialty drinks were...
Once again, welcome!
