Posted Mon Sep 1, 2008, 7:16pm Subject: Wicked Cafe downtown Vancouver location opening very soon - hiring all positions
Only another week or so of finishing off the buildout - hiring now ramping up and training will begin this week.
Wicked Cafe is opening a second location on some prime real estate in downtown Vancouver. That means a lot of job opportunities and a great chance for you to build a real career out of your love for spectacular coffee. We're also distribute Intelligentsia Coffee and Tea across Canada so there will be lots of opportunity for advancement beyond the cafe.
Anticipated opening is mid September which means hiring and training are now starting. We have an offsite training facility ready to roll and will move staff gradually through the program and then into some hands on trial by fire at our current 7th and Hemlock location.
Four positions will be available:
Shift Lead Barista - As it sounds, in charge of things when behind the bar. You'll be manning one of the espresso machines and toying with our e-doser roburs and making sure things flow seamlessly - If you have some solid industry experience and are willing to re-learn things our way (hey, it works for the WBC...), we'll be happy to compensate you well for your efforts and get you training from quite literally some of the world's best. - One hardworking, level headed shift lead will be groomed for store manager.
Barista/Clover Jockey - Espresso machine number 2 is your baby. And so are the two Clovers (your Clover assitant will take over when the lineup pulls you back to the Marzocco) - Experience is a plus but we'll train you to new levels. Personality and line management will be huge - there will be a sit down bar surrounding your machine so be ready to chat up a storm while you're hammering out the drinks.
Customer Service/Bar Back - The oh so important first impression to the customers. And the testing ground to bring staff up through the ranks. You'll also be instrumental in prepping and serving sandwiches and pastries. - Freindly faces and friendly personalities, fast on your feet and a desire to grow. That should do the trick.
Bean Sales and Chief Customer Educator - A lucky few will get what we're sure will be this coveted position and the potential for serious bucks in return for your success - Your job will be to work the line and sell beans and accessories to one and all. The more you sell, the more you'll make. We'll take care of making sure there's a line, you just work your magic and we'll see where this experimental positions takes you.
It's time for downtown Vancouver to have a funky, fun hangout with great tunes and great atmosphere. Serving some of the world's best coffee will just be the icing on the cake.
