I thought about inserting a rule about no followups or only precise followups about the product, but the problem with that is, it leaves too much gray area for the moderators to worry about; the new rules will create more work for them as it is.
There will, however, be automated things to keep the noise level substantially down in the new version of CG.
BST and a new Marketplace forum are getting a LOT of work from both design and programming.

Mark Glad to see the new rules. The commercial explanation needs a little clarifications as others have mentioned. You already state that you cant just buy and sell equipment whether it be a tag sale gaggia or restaurant mazzer. But don't mean we can't sell our old hand me down restaurant grinders to side or upgrade. Maybe with the new site one must access the "new post" button by opening the rules page and have it at the bottom of it and or include the "I have read agree to" check box too. Commenting on price rarely seems to work well. But clarification or correcting a description is. And on the lighter side when a fellow member sells a machine that they have been married to for years and I've known about the ups and downs of that marriage a simple goodbye should be considered appropriate. again thanks for everything!, cheers, farm

I've amended the BST rules a bit, based on feedback from site members.
- New members can make one type of post in the BST forums - they can post 'Wanted to Buy' postings.
- Our profile system optionally allows members to list the city they reside in. If a Senior Member (or a member with more than 10 posts) wants to post something for sale or trade in the BST forum, as long as they publicly list their city in their profile, listing it again in their post is optional.

i am glad you guys revamped this. it is a little weird when salesmen just waltz into our little community trying to make a buck and i kinda sometimes find it insulting and uncomfortable. that's not what we are about at all. a lot of us have a true passion for this and this is a great place to meet together to swap info. (i have noticed, though, that in other areas of the forums, when somebody tries just to waltz on in, there are a few protective big bro types that shut it down, and fast! thanks). Anyway, the revisions look good and thanks for the clarification on commercial machines. That was a hard rule for me to interpret also.

the user mmm-crema posted three items for sale yesterday, and two were deleted for breaking rules. as far as i can tell, all three broke at least one rule, but i can't figure out why only two were deleted.
maybe the mods can shed some light on their decision to delete, so i/we don't make the same mistake?

just had a "strike" issued for a post in the buy sell section...no idea why????
i'm sure i have 10 posts (do i?)....price was stated, as well as location. it was for a rancilio rocky. no picture, but that's "optional", no???
edit: i think i figured it out -- i didn't post my "full name"...could that be why? seems a bit harsh. i guess i should have read the revised faq but a "strike" seems a bit over the top. a friendly p/m or email would have sufficed imho.
You are required to post your full name for BST offerings, either in your profile on in the listing. Please re-read the rules and if you choose, then please re-post your Rocky for sale.
NEW You must list the following information in your thread when posting in this forum: Your real, full name. Your city and state/province/territory (or have it listed on your profile).
