You are required to post your full name for BST offerings, either in your profile on in the listing.
Please re-read the rules and if you choose, then please re-post your Rocky for sale.

"**MUST READ** Buy, Sell and Trade Forum Rules (updated June 1, 2009)"

Item 2 says (emphasis added):
Your city and state/province/territory (or have it listed on your profile).

better do a purge of the forum, then, because there is at least one other right at the top that was posted after march 1st and doesn't have a full name:

"SOLD - FS Isomac Millennium + Mazzer mini"

my apologies...i'll try it again (i have no problem adhering to rules, provided they apply to everyone!).

edit: i think i figured it out -- i didn't post my "full name"...could that be why?  seems a bit harsh.  i guess i should have read the revised faq but a "strike" seems a bit over the top.  a friendly p/m or email would have sufficed imho.

From the rules cited earlier:

These rules are a must read for anyone who wants to post in this forum. Violation of these rules will result in the deletion of your post, and a strike issued by one of the Forum's moderators.

Agreed it may seem a bit harsh, sorry about that.

Feel free to point out posts in violation.
The rules went into affect March 21st (not March 1st)

EDIT

Sigh.....

That poster lists his full name in his profile.

The rules are applied as equally and fairly as humanly possible.
Sometimes we miss one or two, it's hard to keep up with the traffic sometimes lately.

What I wouldn't give for a "Bump to bottom" button. Just to even the odds with the bump-bots and chatter-bots, y'know.

Mark, is there anyway to cut down on the chatter in the BST threads.  Maybe I missed it.

The discussions I mean is when Fred comes on and suggests that it is over-priced; he bought one off _________ for $50 less 3 weeks ago, etc.  Then the discussion ensues about whether or not this person is saving the potential buyer from the perils of the free market.  The someone suggests that the 2nd poster is looking out for the CG community.  Members then begin to side up with one or the other...  Then the moderator asks for the noise to cease.

Dave, I agree that I'd like to see something done about the overall "chatter" that occurs.

It's not limited to "that's way too high".  I've seen the "ooh, sweet deal on that machine" or the like.  I guess my objection is that there's so many comments by people who have no real interest in the sale.  I've personally seen bad "advice" being given to an item/price of an item.

Even if the comments on the price is allowed, there's so much other glop that comes in; anything from "I was looking at getting one of these too" to "I have one of these, does anyone know if I can add a (insert any given modification)?"  Not that these aren't good conversations, but distracting from the actual thread isn't fair to the seller/buyer/trader IMO.

I would like to see a "no comment allowed that's not directly related to the sale" clause become in effect.

Quite agree. I'm having a clampdown on all the 'white noise' posts in the BST forum but if I miss something, shoot me a quick email to ian@coffeegeek.com or iancoffee@airpost.net

Cheers

Great move, Ian, long overdue. It will be nice to cut to the chase in BST at last. Thanks.

Today I posted for sale some ACF cups.  Why has my ad been withdrawn an hour or so later?

I did not delete the original, but If it's like the ad that is up right now, it may have been because your city is not listed (neither in the post nor on your profile).  Please take care of that before some trigger-happy moderator deletes your BST post  :-)

Your original post didn't adhere to the new BS&T rules.

Everyone new and old must read and follow the new rules viewable at the top of the Buy, Sell & Trade forum.
