This forum, the Buy, Sell and Trade (BST) forum is provided as a courtesy service for our active members; as such, you need to be a member of CoffeeGeek for at least three months (making your status "Senior Member", or have at least 10 posts outside of this BST forum before you can make a post offering to sell or trade your equipment. This does not apply to 'wanted' posts.
This rule is in place to ensure new members to our website join in order to be active participants in our community, and not just use the forums to sell products. In that same spirit, if you're a new member and are looking for a new machine to make coffee or espresso with, by all means we invite you to post a 'Wanted to Buy' listing, naming the product you want, and the price you're willing to pay.

Hello Mark:
I sometimes see nice equipment I would like to buy on the BST forum, and I may want to sell one day to help fund such a purchase. But the forum rules prohibit something like an eBay transaction where the deal is protected by the way that online market is set up. I expect, of course, that most people here will do an honest deal. But I would hate to fork over hundreds of dollars and have something not delivered and then lose my investment.
Other than a local pick-up, how do members use this forum to conduct safe transactions?

Tom - You may respond to a WTB, but please use the email button at the bottom of the post to reply to the member who wants to buy. That way it avoids any appearance of a "stealth" for sale ad.

Can we also have all conditions included in the ad? I just began the dance towards a unit I was interested only to be told that the seller "doesn't ship to Canada." That's certainly the seller's right, but how about stating that up front when shipping is listed so we don't waste our time? Currently the Loony is worth more than your buck so there will conceivably be even more enquiries from the Frozen North?
