Preview: Never tried it but I would imagine they'd turn out unevenly roasted with one side of the bean receiving more heat than the other.  Of course, there's an easy way to find out ;)   Ian

Preview: Mine on my Appia was shot and there is little you an do with them as far as I am aware - other than drop the money on a new one (and they ain't cheap).  Good luck with the rebuild

Preview: I'm not a roaster either, but yes you will eventually roast your beans...likely unevenly and very slowly; and oh yeah a HELL of a lot of smoke.  Chaff also might be a bit of a fire issue too on the...

Preview: I'm not a roaster, so correct me if I'm wrong. Dont you need good ventilation when roasting? That would be one reason to avoid baking beans. I have no idea about resulting taste.
