Hi there,
My favourite espresso-based drink is served in a machiato glass and consists of equal parts espresso and steamed milk. The glass is filled to the top. It's like strong latte in proportion, but machiatto-glass size. Does this drink have a name? I just call it a mini latte, but it would be good to put a name to it if it exists.
Just tell the barista how you want your drink prepared. If they are any good, they will do it for you how you want it... I have been known to tell the barista (?) how to pull a straight double shot.

Tell you what, to show I still think you can cut it as a barista, I will let you work for free some time when you come out over summer - just to show you there are no hard feelings...

Most places int he US just call it it a macchiatto; but the correct name is "cortado" -- it's a Spanish espresso drink. The Aussie translations for cortado would be a "short white"
