Subject: Cottesloe beach or Scarborough beach?

I'm planning on spending a week at either Cottesloe or Scarborough beach with my wife and five-month-old.  No  big plans, just want to hang out, have nice coffee and lunches out, and then make dinner for ourselves back at the house/apartment we'll rent.

My question is, which of these two beaches has better cafe and restaurant 'culture' ?

I prefer Cottesloe to Scarbarough - I think it generally has better culture.  You are also not so far from Fremantle where you can pick up some more culture on South Terrace and down at the fishing boat harbour which is quite nice.

cottesloe (cott. to the locals)for sure!there is a few options right on the beach for food/coffee then a little shopping precinct that has more food and coffee options and an amazing one-stop fresh market(fish, meat, veges, cheese etc).easy train access to fremantle(freo) which is perth's bohemian hang-out.feel free to e-mail me and i can give you some more specific reccomendations.

Definitely Cottlesloe... unless bogans in panel vans is your idea of culture :)

But then again, every area has its peculiarities.
