Hi Guys,
I've recently got hold a 1973 model Olympia Cremina off evilbay. I've yet to take delivery, and though it is advertised as being in good condition, it probably will need a bit of an overhaul. I guess I could do the seals and gaskets myself, but I'm wondering if there is anyone in OZ (preferably in or near Sydney) who services these machines in case more complicated repairs are needed.
I am also looking for a double basket since the machine only came with the single. I've got a pavoni europiccola, and I know I can use the double from this as a stop gap because the diameter of both groups is 49mm. But the pavoni basket isn't as deep as the cremina double and hence doesn't hold as much coffee. I've also heard that the Elektra microcasa a leva double basket fits the cremina, but I've yet to have this confirmed by anybody in the know. Since it is deeper than the pavoni double, if it fitted this would be ideal.

Hi Luca,
I image it will be, but to be honest what is the big deal if it is. The asbestos is in the inside of the cover. The only time one would come in contact with it is when one is working on the inside of the machine, in which case it can be covered. Still, I will probably strip the asbestos off the boiler when i get a chance,.

From what I've seen on other threads in http://www.home-barista.com stripping off the asbestos from the boiler just leaves the brass boiler uninsulated. Since I have not got my cremina yet I can't assess the consequences of this, but it seems it would be similar to the pavoni which has an uninsulated brass boiler, but one that, unlike the cremina is not covered.
