Hey all,
will be in Tokyo for about 10 days (and going to Osaka as well) and wanted everyone's input as to where we should go as far as "best espresso experience". If you had addresses as well as names of the cafes, that would be super!

In my impression (might be wrong), you can hardly find a cafe where you can have a good espresso, in Japan. When they started to learn something and not gain, they change it from its original status. Yes, changing something is much easier than learning it well.

I heard that WBC may be alright to have a look at. lol. Also try www.paulbassett.com and a look at the link to his cafes. Other than that I am as lost as you!

Probably one can check out the "Segafredo" cafe there. As you know, that is an Italian cafe chain. But, it does not seem good, as they have member cafes in most big cities, like Paris, Tokyo, and Italy. The headquarter of Segafredo Cafe Chain is in Japan.
I do like to hear something from you coffeegeeks about it.

You're right Peter, Segafredo coffee is generally to be avoided by folks who enjoy GOOD coffee.
There was a thread a while back about coffee shops in Tokyo and IIRC there are a very few good ones but those may be difficult to find for foreign visitors. When I was in Tokyo I found it best to have someone local help me find my way around.

Hey Mark,
I know you must miss the buzz... it's in your blood! Cheers for the thoughts. Things have been going really well in prep. This year we feel a lot more under control than previous campaigns (that does not mean we actually are under control.lol) and we have been able to spend our time focusing on things that previously just got a glance over. The team has some amazing coffee and we are over the moon with the sig bev. I am really excited and looking forward to seeing what everyone has come up with since the last event.
I am sure that Colter and the 49 crew have things well under control... "Vince the Veteran Vanquisher" would have it no other way!lol
