Barista jams are a great informal way for us to get together, learn from each other and have some fun. Following on from our successful September barista jam, AASCA will be hosting a barista jam to get you all warmed up for the upcoming barista competition season.
*Barista competition demonstration: Volunteer baristas will run through a 15 minute barista competition performance. You will get to score them, under the guidance of accredited competition judges!
*Experimentation: Bring along some coffee and see how it goes through the official competition espresso machines. Diamond C has also agreed to supply us some Compak K10 WBC grinders (we're just hoping that the timing will work out). These are the grinders that competitors will use if they don't bring their own.
*The Prize: Coffeelab design will donate a tamper as a door prize!
*Clean up
The details are:
Wednesday October 10 2pm to 5pm Espresso Equipment Specialists (EES) 3/1 Belgium Avenue, Richmond
If you are thinking about competing or judging, this is the event for you. Please register by emailing aascavic@gmail.com ASAP, as EES has limited space. Please also pass this on to anyone you know who might be interested in competing this year.
Note that registration priority will be given to people who genuinely intend to compete or judge. If we have space, I will open up registration to others on October 6th.

Hello all,
I'll quote from the email that I just sent out:
It is with some disappointment that I write to you all to say that I'm forced to cancel the October 10 barista jam. The idea was to run a jam on a week day so that those who can't make weekends would have an opportunity to come along. Unfortunately, I have received very few expressions of interest.
I believe that there is general interest in barista jams and I know that the new executive is keen on AASCA expanding what it can offer its members. Accordingly, you can bet that more stuff will be on in future. Next month's barista jam will be a coffee cupping session to be held at St Ali. I will endeavour to send out an email to AASCA members ASAP to allow you all booking priority, as the cupping table won't seat many.
I don't think that it is too much of a stretch to presume that the executive would be very interested to know what you all would like to see in a barista jam program. Answers by return email will be gratefully accepted. It would also be great if people could put their hands up to run and/or host a barista jam; if we spread the work, I think that we will find that we can create a fun, lively and interesting barista jam program without too much effort on the part of any one person.

Hey Luca,
Jason here, (David Seng's friend) just wondering if the barista jam at St Ali is just AASCA members? Because i really want to participate with a friend of mine if it is OK. If it is ok I was wondering if you could email the details to my email address, snex.jk@gmail.com.
