Hi,

Can any one point me to the right direction where to buy a Hottop or Behmor in the land Down Under? It's not on OZ ebay and one supplier only sells an outdated model of Hottop (D type?)

thanks

Behmor doesn't have a 240v unit yet.  So you'd have to buy a US one, and step down transformer.  Not very cheap.

I don't think Hottop has an Aussie importer.

Hi Nero,

The Australian Gene Cafe importer lists the hottop digital model here.  Looks like they don't have any other models, which sucks because the "B" model looks to be the best.

Cheers,

Luca

I looked into this a couple of months ago. As you say, the Aus importer
sells only the discontinued D model, which is heavily discounted in other
markets such as UK and NZ (unfortunately postage costs etc make it
uneconomic to import from there though).

However it is possible to purchase an upgrade kit from D to B for
$US300 from Hottop in Taiwan. Instructions for installation are
very good.

You could email Shelly in TW for more info -- she is very helpful.

The funny thing about roasters is that you don't have to spend a ton of money to get a good roast!  The thrift shops are loaded with old bread machines that were the fad a few years ago and you can use a heat gun one of the cheap ones and together they make a great roaster!  You want a bread machine with a metal container for the bread with a solid bottom in it some have a big hole you don't want that one also a metal impeller in it.   The heat gun dose not have to be expensive a cheap one that can reach at least  750 degrees f. will work fine

You use the bread machine to stir the beans in the dough cycle (no heat from bread machine needed) and the heat gun to roast the beans   There google sights about doing this with a lot of information on them just google "bread machine coffee roasting"  you will find them.............  I use this setup and have about $25.00 us invested it the whole thing and i roast a pound of coffee at a time and get a nice even roast in about 15 minutes  The bread machine stirs the beans fast enough so you don't  scorch the beans.

Hope this helps
