I would love to catch up with you more about it, and i was seggesting to emma, maybe we try and get a group together while the trans tas is on or something, and bring some ideas to the table/mission statement/events etc. Emma and i were both saying the importance we thought that branding would be, logo etc. I could have a chat to a friend of mine whos a designer once we have some ideas, and see what he could come up with or seggest? ( Networking locally) Competition at different level to promote and educate barista:       Milking Cow competition with Milk factory/farm tour. Amateur Barista Competition in Boutique Roastery with WBC rule walk-through.       Regional and National latte Art competition with Latte Art showcasing for each competiting barista.       Inter-city/Inter-island barista competition. But instead, anyone who is passionate about coffee/espresso making and have good knowledge about what they are doing can call themselve barista. We just have different kind of barista, home barista, working barista,..... etc. I personally think to start a barista guild, it involves many different level of barista and coffee enthusiasts. Without involving everyone who is interested to start with will end up creating an elite group that eventually will close up their circle. Let us keep this channel open and keep building idea and concepts, as soon as we are clear of what we want to do and achieve... we then should act on it. Then we could nut out a few ideas and try and get some form of ball rolling.. (even if its a bit odd shaped to start with) We could talk thru things like, the objective of a guild in NZ, home baristas?, what a mission statement may entail, and how we can look at getting it started, and get some starter event going - to gather some momentum? Just a thought, and i would like to nominate Davids office for such a get together... hehehe... or a cafe or something where we can get together and talk about it. Maybe if the Aussies are in town, and wanna offer any info regarding how the Aussie guild is setup and what the pitfalls and positives so far for them have been. Branding i think will be a key to getting started too.. i have a designer friend who might be keen to helping design a logo etc. Just thinkin..
