I note the construction sidings in IFC advertising Fuel Espresso is on it's way.  I believe they're a Kiwi company, anyone know anything about them?

I tried Illy's product at the airport yesterday  :(  If you don't/can't bring your passion to the coal face, what's the point?

I have always liked the fuel espresso bar at Wellington airport (although it was closed when I last went through due to the planes running so late grrrrr...)

Being a proud Wellingtonian, and running the risk of being parochial, I believe Fuel started as a single cart operation in Wellington. I remember buying my cup along Lambton Quay most mornings on the way to the office - an essential start to the day, especially those cold, windy, winter days with the southerly howling!  They've expanded since then, of course, but I am not sure I have seen one anywhere other than Wellington.  Certainly not in Singapore, where I now live - nor Hong Kong (until now, it seems).  So, if they're setting up in Hong Kong (a franchise?), I guess that's a good thing.  A good thing for Casey and you other coffee heads in Hong Kong, at least.  Just hope the proprietors live up to the heritage.  Wouldn't mind the idea of doing something similar in Singapore....one day, maybe.  In the meantime, enjoy it when it opens!  Cheers, Ben

Thanks Guys.

Ben, I think you're on the money.  The guy overseeing construction looks a lot like the founder of the Fuel you speak of (judging from their website pics).  Many 5 star establishments have come to Hong Kong promising great things but for one reason or another, just don't deliver.  To be fair, passionate staff are VERY hard to find here.  In any case, hope this prooves to be a different experience!

Now, have you trained your young bloke to pull shots yet?  :P
