Hi, I've been there a few times. i'm not an espresso wizard but love coffee. Nice small place that serves nice espresso based drinks and the owner does some nice latte art. I believe he trained at cafe Vivace in Seattle. His beans are not roasted on site but a nice place to go to. Hope you enjoy it there & your trip to TO. Wayne

On that topic, I've been wanting to delve into the wonderful world of espresso. I'm already a coffee fanatic but I would need to know what a good cup of espresso tastes like. Bulldog Espresso is one place, are there any other good places for a good cup? Any place closer to Mississauga?

Welcome Chuck, I believe www. birdsandbeans.ca in Mimico( near Islington & LAkeshore) now has a small cafe in the front of their building. They are a small roastery as well & sell green beans. Try them. Wayne

Bulldog is on the right track, which is encouraging, but i wouldn't call it there yet based on my previous visits. Maybe the learning curve has made the cappas better since my last visit? I'll have to go try one.

I'm going down to Lakeshore at the end of the month. I'll try to drag my wife with me! Lol! Thanks for the advice! If anyone else goes before me, please let me know how the espresso was. Still looking to find out what a good cup tastes like!

I just took a group of 10 college students to Bulldog Coffee in Toronto. We stopped there before going to Green Mango Thai restaurant (Yonge St. location) then a performance of Tafelmusik Baroque. it was a cool trip for a bunch of music geeks.
- I thought the espresso blend was mild and very flavorful. - He ginds one shot at a time. No leftover grinds in the doser! - Has a very nice La Marzocco three group. - Clearly made the correct difference between my double ristrettos and classic doubles some of the students got. - Latte art was pretty good. - They had a variety of bovine drinks to please lots of folks.
I would rate them 4 out of 5 due to the fact that the the latte art and the microfoaming wasn't really top notch and that they didn't have enough espresso cups to serve ten people. They could stock their dishware a littel better.
That being said, when you go to Bulldog Coffee, you are in a place where I think a CoffeeGeek will be pleased.
Coffee, I must have coffee, And if anyone wants to give me a treat, Ah!, just give me some coffee!

Went there last week based on all the "hoopla" from this site. My wife had a latte with a nice little heart on top, I had a Dupio, and my daughter had a cold latte / chocholate thing. All and all they were better than Starbucks but I had a better espresso at Faema earlier that day. I could have been the blend as I got nice bittersweet chocholate notes from the Faema shots which were missing from Bulldogs. My only hope is that the owners try and constantly improve what they are doing (see other posts) and then maybe even expand as the city is in desparate need of good espresso! It's worth the visit.
