Hello Everyone!
We are excited to announce that we will be hosting a Barista Jam on Saturday, June 28th from 5-9pm. Professional and Amateur baristas alike are invited. The registration fee is $15 which will include a t-shirt and all the stuff mentioned below. Space is limited so make sure you register soon.
We're putting the final touches on the itinerary for the evening but this is what we have planned at the moment: - we'll start by having a coffee tasting where we'll run through a number of coffees on our Clover, discussing and comparing them. - then Jim Dikaios from Java Blend Coffee Roasters here in Halifax will be talking about roasting for a little while. - we'll have an Espresso Showdown where we'll compare Jim's Fair Trade Organic Espresso Blend that we use, against a number of others. - and then we'll end the night with a Latte Art Throwdown. We're still working out coffee give-aways, prizes, after-jam festivities etc. so stay tuned.

Hi
Just a quick update on planning for the Barista Jam ...
We've got door prizes and coffee coming from: American Barista & Coffee School BaristaExchange.com Intelligentsia Coffee and Tea 49th Parallel Coffee Roasters and, of course, Java Blend Coffee Roasters
There's sure to be a few additional contributors and some other surprises so stay tuned!
BTW, make sure you let us know if you are coming. We have a small space and there has been a lot of interest - we don't want to have to turn anyone away! http://www.smilinggoat.ca or email us at baristajam@smilinggoat.ca

What a fantastic time!!
Thanks very much to Brad Ford @ Intelligentsia, Vince Piccolo @ 49th Parallel, Matt Milletto @ Barista Exchange, Jim Dikaios from Java Blend, the crew from Smiling Goat and especially all the attendees!! Lots and lots of coffee, conversation, some more coffee, some on the fly dialing in of Clover coffee, more coffee, lots of prizes for everybody, shot shot pulling craziness, a bit more coffee and some Latte Art successes and almost successes.
We'll post some pics on our Flickr site as soon as we've recovered from a nice case of over-caffeination ;)
Thanks again to everyone ... we can hardly wait for the next one!
