Subject: Toronto Specialty Roasters?

I've just relocated to Newmarket for a year and I would love to know who the specialty coffee roasters are in Toronto and surrounding areas.  Also, as I now realize that Newmarket is a long drive into town for a coffee, anyone know of any stand out cafe's north of the city?

Cheers :-)

Hi Jenny,
I see no one has replied to you yet (you'd never guess its summer :).

Although I roast my own, I also buy roasted from Everyday Gourmet in the St. Lawrence Market. I also know of Balzac's in the distillery district and a roaster in Kensington Market who's name escapes me at the moment.

There is also Dark City who run a pretty big operation, so I don't know if they qualify as a "specialty" roaster, but they offer free delivery on a 2 lb minimum order. I have a friend who uses them  (she is no coffee geek) but I don't remember seeing anything (good or bad) about them in this forum, so I don't know if their coffee is any good.

You should read back through this forum and you'll find more comprehensive info.

Gregg.

Maybe you were thinking of Moonbeam COffee Co. or I-deal coffee.  You might want to try Alternative Grounds they also have a ...
BTW Has anyone (here) tried the Coffee Tree Roastery?

I have a map for T. Coffee noobs like myself that you might also find of some value.

It takes an average of 42 beans to make a shot.  Douglas Adams wrote in the Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy, that 42 is the meaning of life...coincidence?

You may want to check out http://www.tancoffeetoronto.com/

I believe they are a roaster cafe! Never had their coffee but chatted with one of the owners & sounds like the know their stuff.
