I would like to know is who is the Canadian equavalent of Starbucks. The company in question does not have to be as big as Starbucks but perhaps just as successfull and it has to be a franchise.
I would also like to know who are the best large scale roasters and flavored coffee manufacturers.
And finally does anyone know the bulk cost of flavored coffees, and what the price break point are for very high volume purchases.
I thank inadvance to all those who contributed information.

Starbucks exists in Canada, and it exists in full force. The second largest chain-store is The Second Cup. It's pretty much the same thing as Starbucks.

You all forgot the Canadian giant Tim Horton's. They are by far the biggest in the country with a HUGE market share.

Mother Parkers, Kraft Canada Imperial Coffee are all around Toronto. Flavored Coffee Company is the biggest for flavored coffee. I have no recomendations on quality (for obvious reasons)

The bigger the company you deal with the higher the volume you will need to do to get price breaks. Price breaks for green beans start at around 7500 lbs. if that helps.

What price break are you talking about Peter?? Are you differentiating between Fairtrade, Organic, or say the NYBOT Coffee "C" market price?, which is currently at $0.8605/lb. It's been a while, but Conventionals with one strictly organic broker is $1.26/lb USD & Organics @ $1.41/lb USD.
P.S. I didn't forget about Timmys either.., just never mentioned 'em {:-/
... and I wonder if anyone knows if Timothy's have gone belly-up (locations here in Edmonton are closing). Kind of a shame as it seemed they were at least trying for quality and freshness.
As for Second Cup .... Yikes .... To think I used to drink that on a regular basis.

Hi Craig, I was speaking about when you purchase green beans from a supplier in Canada, not on the exchanges. They have their margins and standard prices, if you want a price closer to market you have to purchase about 7500 lbs. to get a better price.
If you want a better price from a roaster the best way is to find a roaster where your business is going to make a notable difference to their bottom line. If you are wanting to buy say 100 lbs per week and you go to a roaster that sells 100,000 lbs per week they will hand you their price list and there won't be much negotiation. If you take that 100 lbs and go to a roaster that does 1,000 lbs per week your business will make a sizable difference to them so they might be willing to negotiate more. But then if you take that 100 lbs to a roaster that has 200 lbs capacity per week then they probably won't negotiate becuase they need to get every $$ out of their capacity.
