Wtf?? I read the article and the owner is being fined for the term caffe? Surely the province has bigger issues then attacking a small business and their choice of a word... Btw as an aside, when i was at this cafe last year the french (from France) barista did a so-so job of pulling my espresso, though the Counter Culture wb i bought was tasty.

Actually, as stupid as it sounds, he is being fined about $2000 by the language police for having one extra "f" in cafe.

Quebec has some pretty screwed up laws.

Personally I think their time would be better spent hanging out at Starbucks and performing public lashing of those who use the term "expresso".

They would have to pull many espressi to pay for that.

I heard a story where a Vespa store was opened in Quebec. In the window was a poster from Vespa, Italy. So it was in Italian. He was told to take the poster down. Instead the next day he closed shop to start a successful business in Toronto. What a loss for Quebec.

Actually, I just heard on the radio today that the fine is $4000 for the extra f.

The language police have a $25 million annual budget. Apparently they even told one cafe they needed to put tape over the "on/off" button on their machine since it wasn't French.

It would actually be funny if people and business weren't suffering financially because of these over-zealous morons.

I hope he tells them to "f" off.
