Hi, I'm new to the forums. I live in Montreal but want to buy a four to five hundred dollar machine for a friend in Vancouver. Anyone have any recommendations?

Hi infernovideo. I live on Vancouver Island and when it came time to shop around and see what's available in Vancouver I was quite surprised to find there were very few retailers. (That is, for anything mid- to upper end.) Espressotec in Richmond has a good selection and are quite helpful; that's where I purchased.

Thanks, yeah I just found them on the web a second ago. They look to have lots of choice. The prices appear to be the same as Green Beanery in Toronto, which I find has some of the best prices out this way. The bonus with them is if you ship from one province to another you save the pst.

That is a bit of a bonus; I've ordered a lot of stuff from greenbeanery and saving the PST is great. Espressotec does offer free shipping on their machines, though, so that evens things out a bit. I've had positive experiences with both places.

Well I am reviving this thread at just before its 4th birthday....
I am starting to shop for a new espresso machine - are there any retailers now other than espressotec? Nothing against them, obviously, just want to make sure I survey the entire scene.
There are obviously tonnes of high end machines in town looking at the myriad of coffeeshops around me....where do they get their stuff from? (not that I'm looking at those machines for myself).
I am no stranger to online purchases, but I certainly like the idea of having access to a local service shop seeing as a 60lb machine is not something easily shipped.

Since this thread keeps getting resurrected, I'll add my 2 bits: Bravo Coffee Group is the place to go for La Cimbali espresso machines, parts and service. I've had excellent service from them. They also carry Mazzer grinders. I've also had good experiences with greenbeanery and espressotec. Online in Canada, we have a few options including zcafe, idrinkcoffee, caffetech and creativecookware (in no particular order). Seattle coffee gear is a short drive across the border for Vancouverites.
