There were a couple of my favorite cafes here in Edmonton were featured in the news today - both Transcend and Three Bananas.

Three Banana's

and also

Transcend - go to here, then choose Global Edmonton Stories in the left menu, then "The Perfect Cup"

I just bought 15 lbs of green from them.

5 Colombia - first roast was OK
5 Costa Rica - haven't tried yet
5 Harrar - haven't tried yet

I had a friend pick up the beans at the store. I had called earlier in the week and asked if I could just walk in and buy green beans or would they prefer if I sent the email order ahead of time? The lady replied on the phone that I could just come in. When my friend came and asked for the coffee she was given a bit of a guilt trip not pre-ordering........as there were two other people in the store waiting.........No big deal but surprising.....It was hearsay but still a little disappointing.....If I had a coffee store I'd be pretty happy to have someone buy $75 dollars worth of coffee, but I guess that's just me.

I bought a Technivorn from them in the past with good service over the internet.

If the dollar stays strong, I'll probably stick with Sweet Marias. Trancend actually charges more for shipping than Sweet Marias and I live in Calgary........Edmonton is a 3 hour drive.

Three Bananas changed their hours.  They went from 7AM opening to 8AM opening.
Not Impressed.

I am counting the days until Geoff opens Credo Coffee over on 104St.   www.credocoffee.ca

Yup, 104th just north of the new Sobeys.  There is a condo tower there with some retail and professional space under construction on the first couple floors.  That's where Credo will be.  Actually, I think they are going to put a second tower on it also.
