Subject: Any good espresso in Prince George, BC?

Hi,
I'm travelling to Prince George later this month for several days. 3 years ago, I was in Prince Rupert and enjoyed Cowpuccino - solid espresso, decent latte art. Normally in Calgary, I'd be at Cafe DeVille, Artigiano, Rosso or Kawa.

Any chances for finding a good espresso bar in Prince George? The most promising I've heard of is Cafe Voltaire at a downtown bookshop, but I haven't seen any reviews of it focusing on the espresso.

Just noticed this post now.  I grew up in PG... unfortunately there isn't any coffee really worth drinking there.  Cafe Voltaire is a nice cafe with good food, but their coffee is terrible.  If you're ever further north in Fort St John that's where I live now and am always happy to have fellow coffee geeks over for a cup.  To most people around here Tim Horton's is "good coffee".

...and on that note, I need a coffee.

It's the same here in Grande Prairie with Tim Horton's (not to mention the lineups at the drive thru).

Apparently there used to be a decent coffee shop here (Bean Counters) that carried 49th Parallel coffee but it is now closed. It's too bad that I never got to check it out.

I tried out Bean Counters a couple times in GP.  They didn't have any 49th Parallel anytime I was there less than 3-4 weeks old (I don't think they ordered in on a weekly basis - just as they needed it), and the espresso wasn't great anytime I was there.  Up north it would be tough to get staff that are as passionate about good coffee as the owners, though.  There are just too many other jobs around that pay way more to attract the right type of people.  I didn't ever meet the owner, but I'm sure he had great intentions and was likely as passionate about coffee as any of us, but just a tough place to make a cafe like that work.
