Hi there Thomas,

I am a Finn but I live in Copenhagen, Denmark. I am aware of at least 5 or 6 other CoffeeGeeks from Denmark (two are also named Thomas by the way) and there are a few more from Southern Sweden.

By the way, in case you are interested, the second Copenhagen Home-Barista Jam is in he cards probably in July...

Hi Teme!

Thanks for replying to my thread, happy to see that there are other than me in the copenhagen-area that likes espresso :)

Sounds great about the home-barista Jam, what exactly is it?

Also, do you know if some of the so called barista-courses/workshops are worth the money? It's kind of hard to get some hands-on experience in this hobby when you don't know anyone...

Well, the first jam was good fun - I wrote about it here. The next one will be held at Risteriet and I think a more extensive tamper shootout and a cupping session may be in the cards among other things... ...I very much look forward to it.

I did the course at Kontra and I think it was well worth the money (dkk 500 per person) - I wrote about that experience here.

I think both events were great in further improving my understanding as well as for learning the techniques, swapping ideas and thoughts...

Great write ups there Teme, I'm going to try to catch a course at Kontra if I get the chance, looks like a great way to improve ones barista skills.

Oh, and by the way...what do you think is the best place for espresso in Copenhagen?

Hi Thomas,

My favourites are Risteriet and Café Europa. Dag H is ok, or even good when you have the right barista. I hear very good things about Estate Coffee, but I've never actually been there - I need to go and visit them...

Hi Jacob!

My definite favourites are the d'Or and Uno blends from Risteriet. I also like Kontra's regular all arabica espresso blend, but they roast less regularly than Risteriet. It is a nice blend but with Kontra you sometimes will have to settle for beans that have been roasted a week before and I prefer my coffee a bit fresher...

Hi Jacob!

Nice looking set up you have there, looks very good.

I second Temes choices, I just roasted a small batch of the the Uno blends from Risteriet. Roasted them at 4 this afternoon, it's SO tempting to go out and pull a shot right now... :)

Teme,

I tried Café Europa last friday, ordered a double macchiato. Taste was very good, almost kinda smokey flavoured actually, very full bodied. Sounds like a very dark roast doesn't it?
