Hi All,
A barista trainer friend of mine is heading over to the UK within the next couple of weeks and then is going to head over Scandanavia/Europe way to check out the coffee scene. Does anyone have any suggestions for places to go for great coffee? He's pretty flexible in his planning.

If he comes to Aarhus (second largest city in Denmark) he should definitely visit Sigfreds kaffebar (Sigfred's coffee shop). He has two shops one located in the basement of a book shop. They are both located near the central station. For further info on the addresses see http://www.sigfreds-kaffebar.dk.
Another good coffee shop in Aarhus is Altura. It is located in a street called Graven, in the old part of Aarhus - the Latin Quarter.
I can recommend that he goes to Aarhus - not only for the good coffee at the places I have mentioned but also because it's in general a really nice city.

In Oslo, Norway:
Tim Wendelboe's newly opened (self titled) coffee shop/roastery in "Grüners gate 1", which can be found here. He even has an Australian working for him. Daily cuppings at 2pm. Stockfleth's in the street "Lille Grensen": lovely, consistent espresso. Java on "Sankthanshaugen", in "Ullevålsveien 47": busy place with great coffee, both drip and straight espresso.

I can only say that these three are excellent choises. I seldom drink two in a row, but at Tim Wendelboe, I went straight back in for another coffee after the first was finished.

I was very disappointed by the coffee in Finland when I was there recently. Even in the very trendy capital - Helsinki coffee was often served from a machine (from concentrate or powder I think) not even brewed. I did, however, find Wayne's Coffee (www.waynescoffee.com) which served a decent cappucino.
